My name is Wow. I have a BA in Communication Studies – Media Studies from Northeastern University Here I talk about the media and my reflections on it. I mainly focus on video games, but I also discuss movies, television and websites.
My specific interests in media studies include:
- television and film production and producing.
- political media bias in televlision news and the perception of thus bias by viewers.
- stereotypes, their usage, and how it effects fictional programs.
- the “digital divide” among those who have no or little internet and other media access compared to those who do.
- The correlation of violent video games and violent behavior, namely the false correlations often pointed out by the media.
- the “digital revolution” specifically focused around amateur filmmaking, the rise of celebrities and popular culture through YouTube and similar sites, and the various copyright issues surrounding all of these.
- The importance of social commentary in television (looking at what separates “good” shows from “great” shows).
